johannah marie is my signature name; I was named after my mothers two sisters. These names will be consistent throughout my life; where as, the other has changed. As a child, I have always drawn from my imagination.

After my husband's death in 1985, I went to school for commercial art. I was encouraged to approach the finer arts because of the way I could see things, and how I render them on paper. I have always struggled with the practicality of being an artist, and in 2000 I obtained a BFA degree.

In 2003, I received a certificate in graphic design and photography to promote my own art business. I formulated a business plan and ran it through the economic research center at the University of Texas. My formulation for an Art business passed with flying colors.

2004, I moved into an artist community to put the business to the test. Could it actually work, was I as talented as they said I was; this I did not know. My five year plan was put to the test and only after two and a half years. Yes, it did work.

Hard economic times in 2007, drove me to expand my resources to begin the business. It took a couple of years to pull myself up out, but now I am painting again. The work is better than it has ever been. I believe I am beginning to find my niche, that will signature my work.

My art comes from my imagination. I like color and am inspired from reality around me. I see things as they are, but always with a stronger sense of intrinsic value. I like the deeper meaning of things. The myth, and mystery of human existence.

We are exceptional people in America, and I am proud for what my country has done for me as an individual. I am the American dream, I have lived it, was born into it and want to preserve it in a special way, in a creative way. I am no a historian, I am a visionary artist.

What I create is from my own ethnocentric point of view, as a women, a human and as a spiritual being. My art is an expression of what makes us great, and what binds us together. Americans by nature are heros in the eyes of the world, cowboys, freedmen and visionaries with a touch of madness that defies conventional thought, usually which has been carved into the tablets of time.

As an artist, I want to honor my life, the freedom I have been given, the grace I have found in being a women of this world. It is important to me, it has made me who I am, and so I paint.
