I love to paint, custom interiors, murals, oil on canvas, and mixed media on paper. Contemporary Western Art is what I call my work, because my images inspire my mind & my eyes to feel something that I enjoy in the now. Painting in the United States today cover a vast range of styles; mine combines icons, color and expression.
Being an American Artist, my preference is in representing visual art of the United States. My images are created from an icon which is used for my expression; which is subjective, I use colors that distort reality, to impact the viewer. The icons I choose give a strong sense of a mythic identity, and how myths, dreams, or symbols have placed meaning in our lives.
Unlike my predecessors in the 20th century, who according to art historians lacked aesthetic quality. I believed that with the use of specific color choices and familiar forms, I can create a mood and feeling that is projected in my painting. Herewath Walden, a German Expressionist artist said “Expressionist art is not an impression from outside but an expression from inside.”
For this artist, I have found something that works for me and promotes peace of mind, in the process of creating art. It is not the end result that pleases me, but the road I travel to get there.
